Link2SD is an application manager that provides a convenient solution for Android 2.0+ users to easily move applications to their SD card. This tool facilitates app and storage management.

How it works:

Linking apps:

Link2SD utilizes a secondary partition on your SD card and treats it as additional internal storage. It moves apk, dalvik-cache (.dex), lib, and internal data files into this partition, which is mounted by the OS on boot. A symbolic link is created in the original location to maintain the expected system file structure while moving most of the data to the SD card.

Linking obb and external data folders of apps and games:

On devices that have an emulated SD card, obb and external data folders are located in the internal storage rather than the external (real) SD card. Link2SD moves these folders to the 1st or 2nd partition of your external SD card (depending on your selection) and, with the bind option of the mount command, remounts the file hierarchy at the external SD card while keeping it available at the original location.

• Second partition on SD card.

It is essential to have two primary partitions on your SD card. The 2nd partition must be formatted with a non-FAT file system (ext2, ext3, ext4, or f2fs) to support linking app's private data files. FAT file systems (FAT16, FAT32, or exFAT) do not support UNIX file ownership or permissions, which can compromise the security of app's private files. The creation of the second partition is not a function of Link2SD; you need to create it manually.

Linking obb and external data folders of apps and games:

• Root permission.

The second partition on the SD card is optional; you can move folders to either the 1st or 2nd partition of the SD card. Additionally, Link2SD offers native App2SD functionality provided by Android OS. It can move any user apps to the SD card using "force move" and supports batch moving.
